Marie Noëlle screenwriter, author and filmmaker
Marie Noëlle (also Marie Noëlle Sehr) started painting and writing stories from a very early age and developed as a student a passion for cinema, running the school Ciné-Club and spending most of her free time at the Parisian “Cinémathèque”. As she meets her soulmate Peter Sehr they start making short films and decide to become professionals and move to Germany, Peter’s home country. Together they ran the legendary ARRI cinema and never stopped promoting the connection between art and cinema founding 2005 with Dagmar Hirtz & Gabriele Guggemos « Treffpunkt Filmkultur », an association to bring children and young people closer to cinema and with friends. Since 2008 Marie Noëlle is passing on her passion for film to young students as a guest lecturer at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and since 2020 also at the HFF Munich.
Since 2013 she has been a committee member of the Franco-German Agreement Commission of the FFA and from 2018 to 2022 Managing Director of the Directors’ Guild of Germany.
Meeting destiny and founding P’Artisan
The artistic career of this French woman of Spanish descent begins at the age of 4, when she has to use her dancing skills to incarnate the world-famous Joséphine Baker but she’s thirsty for knowledge and wants to study (first mathematics, then an MBA at the renowned ESCP Europe). Marie Noëlle never would have suspected that meeting Peter sehr a German PhD student in biophysics at Oxford, who makes short films on the side would change her life for ever. In love they go on studying but also filming together and finding their true calling!
1988 Marie Noëlle and Peter Sehr decide to make their passion their profession. They move to Germany and found P’Artisan Filmproduktion GmbH in Munich, the hot spot of the time, hoping to meet Rainer Maria Fassbinder! Since then they have been working as screenwriters, directors and producers.
